We are getting excited for the 2026 - 2027 school year and the first day of school on Thursday, August 20, 2026. Over the next month, we will be sharing information via email, website, and social media, helping you prepare for the beginning of the school year.

School Registration: Change from PowerSchool to Infinite Campus
The state has required all k-12 public schools in ND to implement a new student information system that will move us from PowerSchool to Infinite Campus (IC). Because of this change, we are going to be opening school registration earlier to allow more time for you to complete this process. Beginning on Monday, July 20th, we will be sharing step-by-step information on IC to assist you in completing school registration for your students. There will be a helpline setup to assist parents/families as needed.

2026–2027 School Supply Lists Are Here! ✏️🍎

The Valley City Public Schools 2026 – 2027 School Supply Lists are now available! Please see the attached lists to help your students get ready for a great school year at VCPS. If you have any questions about school supplies, we encourage you to contact school offices and/or principals beginning on August 3rd.

🚧 VCPS Construction Progress Report – July 8, 2026 🚧

Please see the attached Construction Progress Report for the new school and Hanna Field, along with the temporary 12th Street Road Closure Plan between 2nd and 5th Avenue NE.

Thank you in advance for your patience, understanding, and support as construction continues.

We know there have been questions and comments regarding an auditorium. At the end of May, we formed an advisory committee consisting of school and community representatives to explore the possibility of adding an auditorium to the new school, while we continue to follow the district facility report, which was shared at the June 22 School Board meeting. We will share more information in the coming months as the committee continues to explore the district's needs, including possible concepts, costs, locations, and funding options.

We are excited to continue sharing updates every couple of weeks as Phase I of the School Facility Project 2028 progresses.

Request for Proposal - Supply of diesel fuel and gasoline for the 2026-2027 school year.

The Valley City Public School District #2, Valley City (Barnes County), North Dakota, is requesting sealed bids for the supply of diesel fuel and gasoline for the 2026-2027 school year.
Specifications include: facility has the capacity for fueling a school bus, available after hours fueling,
and fleet cards. The expectant fuel usage will be approximately 20,000+ gallons of diesel fuel and/or
gasoline.

The School Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids, or to waive any informalities, irregularities, or defects in any proposal should it deem to be in the best interest of the Valley City Public School District to do so.

New School & Hanna Field Project Update
June 8, 2026

Hann Field
Right now, the ground at Hanna Field is being excavated to allow for the installation of the stormwater management system for the new school. Once completed, this will connect the existing drainage that was installed with the Dacotah Bank Track in 2019 and the new school. This work is scheduled to be completed by July 24th, thus allowing for the new turf, sponsored by Essentia Health, to be installed by mid-August. Here are a few pictures of the current Hanna Field.

Looking Ahead
Around the middle of July, there will be a temporary road (and walking path) closure on 12th Street between 2nd and 5th Avenue. This will allow contractors to connect into utilities under the street on 12th. We will make every effort to limit the impact and duration of this closure on the neighborhood and community. Please look for more specific details about this closure coming at the beginning of July.

Site Security and Safety
A perimeter fencing has been installed around the construction site in an effort to keep everyone safe, especially our children. Signs have been added along 12th Street to kindly remind drivers and pedestrians to be alert for truck traffic coming and going from the construction site. Please help us to keep everyone safe throughout the project and be alert to the increased traffic around the area.

Shout-Outs to Hi-Liner Alumni
A shout-out to three former VCHS Hi-Liners who were on the job site this afternoon. Jake Myers ('21) is driving a side dump for Myers Trucking, Matt McLain ('11) is an earthwork foreman for Scherbenske, and Jordyn Heck ('04) is the facility director for VCPS. It is a lot of fun to see our Hi-Liners involved in this project.
