📢 Valley City Jr./Sr. High Recognizes Mental Health Week 💚
This week, Valley City Jr./Sr. High observed Mental Health Week with a series of activities hosted by our Student Council to support mental health awareness. To cap off the week, we held a “Hat Day” on Friday, raising funds for the Access for All Scholarship fund, which helps remove financial barriers for students needing mental health services.
In addition to Student Council events, we were honored to have speakers from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention talk to our 7-12 students about mental health, coping strategies, and suicide prevention.
Thank you to everyone involved in making this week impactful and supportive for our students! 💙

Our Valley City Public Schools Business Manager Jackie Cordie was recognized this afternoon at the North Dakota School Board Association Annual Convention in Bismarck for completing the Business Managers Certification Program.
Congratulations, Jackie Cordie!! We appreciate your hard work, kindness, skill, and leadership.

🎃 Halloween at the High School Event Canceled 🎃
Since the weather forecast looks to be good for outdoor trick-or-treating, and with minimal community interest in this year's event, we have decided not to hold Halloween at the High School this year.
We're excited for all the kids to enjoy a fantastic night of trick-or-treating outdoors! 🍬👻
Thank you to everyone who showed interest, and we hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween! 🎉

Early, yesterday morning, there was an apartment fire in Valley City that directly and indirectly impacted four of our Hi-Liner students and an employee of the school district. The fire caused the death of one individual and displaced all of the other residents. Below, I linked the story yesterday from Ryan Cunningham with NewsDakota.
https://www.newsdakota.com/2024/10/23/breaking-fire-claims-one-several-rescued-at-valley-city-apartment-complex/
We have two families (two VCHS 7-12 students) that have been displaced from their residence at the apartment and are temporarily living in a hotel or with family in Valley City. It is our understanding that the two families were able to get back into the apartment yesterday afternoon to collect clothes and personal belongings. Today, in addition to providing counseling services for the students, we would like to send out an opportunity for our school and community to offer financial support for the two families that will be incurring unexpected costs for laundry, hotels, personal belongings, and food.
If you would like to make a financial contribution for the two Hi-Liner families displaced from the apartment fire, please drop off a check or cash at the district office at 460 Central Avenue N. Yesterday, we received a lot of requests from both our school and community wondering how they could help these individuals. While we received a lot of quesitons about donations of clothing, furniture, food, etc., we believe right now the best way to help the families is through a monetary donation.
Thank you for your support of our Hi-Liners and families here in Valley City ⚪️🔵
